Preference For Tanzanian and Local Providers

MML has a strong preference to source materials produced in Tanzania and we shall always, where practicable, procure and supply Tanzanian products. Furthermore, where local produce is available of an acceptable standard we always endeavour to supply from these sources. MML has a clear policy of keeping our supply chain as close to home as possible and the reasons behind this strategy are:

  • It is good for public relations as it demonstrates our commitment to investment in the local community.
  • It is good for the local suppliers who benefit from serving their local community.
  • It is easier for us to travel to the suppliers for which in turn gives us greater control.
  • The supply chains are shorter and therefore greater predictability of delivery times and lower costs.
  • Smaller suppliers are proven to be more flexible and client orientated than large operations which means that they are more adaptable.
  • We are helping the environment by reducing our carbon footprint that is associated with transportation.

In all of our remote facilities, located throughout Tanzania, we attempt to rapidly create a relationship with the local population that is based on open communication, so as to identify their strengths as well as their needs. In terms of the services that we provide, our principal interest is to establish, locally, a supply chain for as many different goods as possible and by doing so, we are able to contribute economically to the local population and thereby, create a sustainable market economy that can continue to thrive in the future.
